Artist's Comments

Isfendarmad, He-Who-Knows-The-Darkness, the lord of the Arweharis who guard the night. The Arweharis patrol the borders of chaos and discord, striving to keep the forces of evil at bay, their black hair and masked faces set them apart from all the other races of unicorn. The Dark Lord sought to convert him over to his power and so sent Amduscias, the demon of music, to tempt him into darkness. Amduscias weaved a sublime and enchanting melody to snare the noble unicorn, but Isfendarmad, knowing the subtleties of evil however beautiful the song, pierced the shadows and fled. But the power and beauty of the night's song haunted his mind forever more and always he stood in contemplation of the mysteries of darkness.

Tools: Wacom tablet, Corel Painter 8, and Corel Photo-Paint 11.

very beautiful, i absolutily love the way the mane flows, it gives such movement to the piece. and its a black and white unicorn! i love black and white unicorns =)

That is beautiful. When I first saw the preview image, I thought it was an eye, but when I saw the larger version, I realized what it was. Very nice work.

Wow... beautiful. As others have said, there's such movement in it. And that is a VERY creative background! I wish I had such story writing skills.

That mane is amazing. He has a beautiful face and horn as well. I love all the dark smattering all over the background going into him as well. Also that eye with the black around it is really striking and some of the bones on the face too.:blackrose:
